Challenge:

3M comes to us for help in linking new and mature technologies with unrecognized needs to originate compelling new products.

Approach:

The unique properties of 3M adhesives and films took us into user environments to observe how consumers struggle with everyday tasks and projects. Innovation Platforms included child protection, home decoration, DIY projects, home organization, crafts and hobbies, cord management and many other opportunities. Our creative exploration surfaced product concepts to address a range of identified applications in and around the home. Pipeline Development Strategies outlined plans for new branded product families that leverage the given technologies, and consumer-driven opportunities.

Results:

Command Cord Management products, fasteners and other new offerings deliver innovative utility and intuitive operation. Most recently, our research and concept work initiated a new line of Scotch branded scrapbooking products to capitalize on a fast-growing trend.
